Residency at Q-O2

In the last 2 years we continued developing our mobile concert format concerto ambulante, first performed at the Q-O2 2017. A further development of the project culminated in the idea of conceiving the format as mobile radiophonic opera. A first sketch has been developed during a residency in Jerusalem in 2018 and performed it at Musrara Mix Festival.
During this working period we want to research about the relation between an open set up, a fixed score and the format of an oevre (Werk). How open can a score be without putting the compositorial structure into risk? How much is the authorship distributed between the composers and acting musicians, performers? And what does it mean to create an operatic set up in a site specific every day life environment?

performing "to be in a time of war"


[SNDNG STTNS] showed an unfinished piece called and based on “to be in a time of war“, with the text and voice from Lebanese author Etel Adnan. In its final form the piece works inside the format of live performed Radio piece. We started the work on it in 2016 at a residency in Uckermark, continued the work in 2017 in our first Q-02 residency. In between the two years we had the chance to meet Etel Adnan in her apartment in Paris and earned her encouragement for the piece by contributing her voice, giving an inside of the intention of writing the piece as recording the poem. We worked on adapting the different collected and chosen elements into a version which reflects the now.

In the second set we performed as macchina som allstars elaborating Lukas’ idea of the daily encounters of death, not in its form as being a threat but more in its dailiy phenomena.
