Distant Resonances Trilogy

Resonance holds dual significance for us: musically, it describes the interaction of sounds and vibrations; socially, it captures the interplay between people and their ideas, opinions, and actions. In social and cultural contexts, resonance manifests as agreement, rejection, support, or resistance—connecting with audiences‘ existing patterns while either reconfiguring them or introducing something fundamentally new.

„Distance Resonance“ is a three-year conceptual project exploring resonances that emerge from mediated and personal connections to distant events, decisions, people, and geographies—and how these reverberate into the here and now. We, the music theater collective „Sounding Situations,“ aim to create a resonant space linking the simultaneity of live performance with global occurrences by transmitting ideas, sound, and artistic inquiries. Through this mutual „setting into vibration,“ our projects interweave political events, social urgencies, and emotional encounters.

Conceived as artistic research, the project comprises three distinct performance formats: a multi-perspective music theater production (Wagner Worldwide- Kampnagel, Tischlerei/Deutsche Oper), a silent disco music theater piece for public space (War Whispers – Kampnagel, BAM Festival, Berlin), and a music theater work (Here Comes the Sun / Secret Sun – Nordwind Festival, Kampnagel). These formats respectively address media resonances, resonances of connectedness, and resonances of the self.
