WAR WHISPERS

WAR WHISPERS, invites you on a multi-layered sound expedition: against the backdrop of historical architecture, where power and everyday life meet, the public space becomes a listening space. Sounds composed in real time merge with the metropolitan soundscape as the musicians move through the cityscape. At the centre is the haunting voice of poet Etel Adnan, whose text ‘To be in a time of war’ is ‘whispered’ directly into the audience’s ears via headphones. WAR WHISPERS explores the question of how people live in the tension between everyday life and violence. The result is a fragile web of sound that draws the listener into an acoustic hidden object: sometimes close and personal, sometimes overwhelming and alien, between the lived present and the reverberations of wars not far away.
