Kun­st im Ver­hör

The Russ­ian artist Pavlen­sky has become known to the pub­lic with dis­turb­ing actions. And it is pre­cise­ly the waves that these actions make — the arrests, the tri­als and, of course, the media cov­er­age — that he under­stands as an inte­gral part of his rad­i­cal art. His own body, his life, Russ­ian real­i­ty and media atten­tion are the mate­r­i­al he works with. “I only bring in an extreme visu­al form what exists in soci­ety. Actu­al­ly, real­i­ty is even more extreme in the mat­ter.”
